OVERVIEW

Ivo Burum is an award winning television, writer, director, executive producer and journalist with more than 30 years experience. He’s worked internationally in more than 35 countries across a range of program styles, including documentary, reality, docudrama, magazine, consumer affairs and on frontline current affairs series such as Foreign Correspondent and also 60 Minutes. Ivo has developed and delivered in excess of 35 series and countless one off productions, including the nightly public affairs series George Negus Tonight and the international hit Love Letters from a War. Ivo’s most recent work as executive producer and writer was Outback House for the ABC, after which he developed, wrote and exec-produced, the first three series of he Nine Network hit, Missing Persons Unit. A pioneer of the user-generated style of production in Australia, Ivo has spent three decades empowering people with journalism skills to produce their own stories for self-shot television series such as Home Truths, Nurses, Race Around Oz and After The Fires. Ivo has developed the lessons learned on these series into his current mobile digital storytelling workshops he is delivering across Australia and internationally to communities, the education sector and mainstream media. Ivo speaks regularly at conferences, has commenced publishing on aspects of mobile journalism and has just written his Phd focusing on convergent storytelling across spheres of communication. Ivo has written an iBook, How To Mojo. Ivo is consulting with large mainstream media (Norway and Denmark) where he trains journalists in convergent media praxis and is helping media and schools develop hyper local and mobile web TV formats. Ivo is currently teaching Masters students multimedia and mobile journalism at Deakin University, and video journalism to final year undergraduate students at Swinburne University Of Technology
